Welcome to
Alan started life as a Management Trainee for Ingersoll Rand in the Order processing Department.
Whilst working on a payroll project Alan was observed by the IT department using its resources to write his own programs in his own time using the training material that he had access to. Alan was invited to join thr programming team which meant he had to cease his HND Business studies to take up internal training.
Three weeks into training a member of the Computer Operations department broke his leg at football and Alan was requested to step in to support the department. Alan took to the position of Data Control and was immediately promoted to Computer Operator for a short time before taking up post as Shift Leader.
It was during this period when Alan went on a Hoskyns Project Managers Course and was identified as being a high flyer he returned with the recommendation that the company was to make every opportunity available to him and for his first test was tasked to write the Procedure Manual for th IT Department.
Alan proved his leadership qualities by not actually doing any work but appointed all the tasks out to the other shift leadrs and thier teams. Which his own team found most amusing.
Alan returned to programming developent as a senior programmer and returned to the Management team a Temporary Project Manager over the Business Ststems Analysis Team.

Alan convinced RM that they were deploying the wrong strategy and demonstraded the strength on havin a centralised data capture system. RM requested than Alan undertook the build himself on the strength of his performance and ability as a programmer.
By 1998 Alan had returned to employment in Manchester and had taken up employment for Sodexho as a Systems Designer. In the first few months of his contract he realised that the company had no tax year end procedures so he reverted back to his post as Operations Analyst to develop a system. Working at Verastar does have it's advantages. It primarily allows me to see first hand how a modern day infrastructure works.
It allows me to formulate ideas on how my own design should be managed. By working with a CRM everyday you get to know it intimately which is something that a designer does not have, we depend upon feedback from our users.
